Molly's shawl

finished project: Molly's shawl
designer: ???
pattern source: Lion Brand website
yarn: Lion Suede prints in two colors: canyon and orchard. machine washable but not dryable. 100% polyester.
yarn source: Michael's at Regency Centre. on sale!
needles: size 13 circular, size K crochet hook.
dates: 2005.12.27 - 2005.12.30

It's gorgeous! Yay! I'm so excited. I think I'll get to give it to her tomorrow.

Pictures!

the whole thing
zoomed in a little so you can admire my handiwork
zoomed in even more

I ended up doing the pattern 12 times instead of 10 because it looked small. I hope it's big enough. Of course, as per usual, I didn't even pretend to check my gauge. I used up two balls of "canyon" for the orange bit and then one and a half balls of "orchard" for the pinkish bit.

All done!

Molly's shawl

current project: Molly's shawl
designer: ???
pattern source: Lion Brand website
yarn: Lion Suede prints in two colors: canyon and orchard. machine washable but not dryable. 100% polyester.
yarn source: Michael's at Regency Centre. on sale!
needles: size 13 circular, size K crochet hook.
date begun: December 27

I'm putting the socks aside at least until I finish this shawl. That's the plan, anyway. The shawl looks awesome and Molly's really going to love it. The "canyon" color is a mix of oranges and the "orchard" color is more a mix of dulled purple-orange-red shades. I'm going to use up two balls of the "canyon" and then start with the "orchard". The shawl is worked from the top center out, so this should look pretty cool.

rainbow socks

current project: rainbow socks
designer: Rose Limke and Bonnie Brockburg
pattern source: Knit It! magazine, 2004
yarn: Sockotta, The Plymouth Italian Collection, color #30. machine washable. 45% cotton, 40% superwash wool, 15% nylon. sort of a pastel rainbow mix.
yarn source: Ting Ting bought it for me during a sale at Windsor Button, in Boston.
needles: size 3 double-pointed
date begun: December 14 or thereabouts

status: I finished one sock and I'm most of the way through the cuff of the second.

I suppose I will post pictures when these are done.

Other things I'm thinking of:

Snowflake (boyfriend) wants me to make a throw for his new couch. The couch is off-white, so I'm thinking maroon, or maybe some type of blue. I just got the first volume of Vogue Knitting's Stitchionary and Snowflake picked stitch number 198 for the throw. But I didn't bring the book home over break and I don't really remember what it looked like. I think I will do it in pieces and sew it together, unless I get a better idea.

Molly (aunt) would like me to make her a triangular shawl. Her requests: a pretty open weave, grey, maybe with fringe, fuzzy. I'm thinking of using Lion Brand Moonlight Mohair if it's soft. Molly especially liked this pattern I found, so I think I'll go with that. Need to buy: yarn, size 13 circular needle, size K hook. If Michael's is well-stocked, I might be able to get this done before I leave for Boston again.

I love this cape. Ooooh.

new blog

Hello, I'm Anisa. If you want to figure out who I actually am, you might consult Deviating or MIT. But for right now, this is going to be my knitting blog.

I'm 20 years old and I've been knitting since I was probably about eight. I'm not a particularly fancy knitter: I like to make hats and scarves, and I'm recently getting into socks. I'm pretty good with lace, and I'm not so good with things like color, modules, felting, etc. I expect I will get more practice with felting when I don't live in a college dorm where washers are 75 cents to use.

I am currently working on a pair of socks that I started near the beginning of finals week. They are made from some rainbow-colored sock yarn that my friend Ting Ting bought for me. More later.
